PM Modi Says BRICS New Delhi Declaration Reflects Growing Global Trust in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration at the 18th BRICS Summit reflected growing international confidence in India. The summit was held in New Delhi on September 12-13, 2026, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Speaking at the inauguration of SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi on September 17, Modi linked the BRICS outcome with India’s economic performance and its expanding role in global cooperation. He said India recorded 7.8% quarterly GDP growth despite what he described as a challenging period, and argued that economic growth was being accompanied by increasing global confidence.
The Prime Minister also referred to developments in technology and infrastructure, including the Global FinTech Fest held in Mumbai and progress on India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor network. He connected these developments with the broader theme of India’s economic and technological expansion.
SEMICON India 2026, being held at Yashobhoomi from September 17 to 19, is focused on strengthening India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. The fifth edition carries the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem” and brings together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, researchers and startups.
The BRICS New Delhi Declaration reaffirmed cooperation among member countries across political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people areas.
