BJP MLA Manoj Kumar Shokeen on Friday raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of several government-run schools in the Nangloi Jat constituency, warning that the situation poses a major safety risk to students.
Speaking in the House, the legislator presented photographs highlighting the structural damage in multiple school buildings and urged immediate intervention. He said the condition of the schools was extremely dangerous and could potentially put hundreds of children at risk if urgent repairs were not undertaken.
Shokeen stated that repeated representations had been made to the Public Works Department regarding the condition of the buildings but alleged that little action had followed. He called for swift repairs without further delay to prevent any untoward incident.
The MLA held the previous Aam Aadmi Party government responsible for what he described as years of neglect of school infrastructure. He added that even though one of the schools has now been upgraded under the ‘CM Shri’ initiative, the responsibility for ensuring safety lies with the current administration.
He further cautioned that any mishap in these schools would raise serious questions for the present Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, stressing the need to urgently rectify issues inherited from the previous regime.
