Gangster Shot Dead at Dehradun Mall

A man identified as Vikram Sharma, who allegedly had more than 50 criminal cases against him, was shot dead inside a mall in Dehradun on Friday morning.

The incident took place at Silver City Mall on Rajpur Road between 10:00 am and 10:15 am, according to police.

Attack Inside Mall

Police said Sharma was returning from a gym located inside the shopping complex when the attack occurred.

According to officials, two assailants were reportedly waiting inside the mall. As Sharma stepped onto the escalator after exiting the gym, they allegedly opened fire. Around three shots were fired, and he was declared dead at the spot.

A third person is believed to have been waiting outside on a motorcycle. All three suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Police Probe Underway

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh said initial investigations suggest the possibility of gang rivalry.

Police teams, including forensic experts, reached the scene shortly after the incident and began collecting evidence. CCTV footage from the mall and nearby areas is being examined.

A joint team of Dehradun Police and the Special Task Force (STF) has been formed to investigate the case. Authorities are also coordinating with police in Jharkhand, where Sharma was reportedly linked to criminal activities.

Background of the Deceased

Sharma was a native of Bazpur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. Police said he had alleged criminal links in Jharkhand and was involved in multiple cases.

He was reportedly out on bail at the time of the incident and was living in a rented flat in Dehradun. Police said he was carrying a licensed pistol when he was shot.

Officials stated that his family in Jharkhand has denied that he had received any recent threats.

Possible Gang War Angle

While the motive is yet to be officially confirmed, police suspect the killing may be connected to past disputes or gang rivalry, given Sharma’s alleged criminal background.

Investigators are examining his recent activities, known associates and possible rivalries to determine the reason behind the attack.

Security in and around the mall area has been tightened following the incident.
