India’s Youth Will Shape ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, Says Navy Chief While Addressing NCC Cadets

India’s youth will play the most decisive role in shaping the country’s future, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said on Monday while addressing a gathering of NCC cadets in New Delhi.

Using the metaphor of cinema, the Navy Chief described young Indians as the actors, directors, producers and even the audience of the nation’s journey towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He stressed that the responsibility of nation-building would largely rest on their shoulders as they form nearly 65 per cent of India’s population.

Addressing the cadets, the Navy Chief emphasised that discipline, teamwork and unity of purpose are more important than individual brilliance. He said progress—whether within an organisation or a nation—cannot be achieved in isolation and requires collective effort and shared responsibility.

Highlighting the importance of perseverance, he referred to global sporting icons to underline how sustained hard work shapes success over time. He also recalled acts of courage and sacrifice by India’s armed forces to reinforce the idea that moral courage and selfless service remain foundational values for the country.

The Navy Chief urged young people to move beyond a mindset of personal gain and instead focus on contributing to the larger national goal. He noted that if the organisation or the nation rises, individuals rise with it.

Drawing attention to the 2047 vision, he said that most of today’s youth will be in their prime professional years by then, making their role unavoidable and central in India’s transformation into a developed nation.
