Mary Kom’s ex-husband makes fresh allegations, cites messages amid ongoing dispute

Fresh controversy has emerged around Indian boxing icon Mary Kom following new allegations made by her former husband, Karung Onkholer, also known as Onler. The couple officially separated in 2023 after nearly two decades of marriage.

In response to Mary Kom’s earlier claims accusing him of financial misconduct during their marriage, Onkholer has strongly denied the allegations and, in turn, made serious counter-claims related to their personal relationship. He alleged that issues between them began more than a decade ago and said tensions had previously been resolved within the family.

Onkholer claimed that he chose to remain silent for years despite personal differences, adding that he does not object to his former partner moving on with her life following their divorce. However, he stated that he opposes being publicly blamed and questioned the accusations of financial wrongdoing made against him.

He also disputed claims regarding property and money, asserting that his current living situation does not align with allegations of misappropriation of large sums. According to him, the matter should be addressed with documented proof rather than public statements.

The developments have drawn significant attention, given Mary Kom’s stature as one of India’s most celebrated athletes. Neither side has indicated whether further legal action will follow, and no official verdict has been announced regarding the competing claims.
