Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Sunday announced a major expansion of the group’s investment footprint in Gujarat, pledging ₹7 lakh crore over the next five years, while strongly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he described as decisive leadership amid global uncertainty.
Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra, Ambani said Reliance had already invested ₹3.5 lakh crore in the state over the past five years and would now double that commitment. He said the expanded investment would generate large-scale employment, livelihoods and long-term economic growth for both Gujarat and India.
Ambani credited the Prime Minister with restoring India’s civilisational confidence and strengthening its position on the global stage. He said the current phase of governance had transformed India from a nation of potential into one of performance and execution, marking a decisive shift in its global standing.
Referring to geopolitical instability and economic challenges worldwide, Ambani said India remained resilient due to what he termed an “invincible protective wall” provided by Modi’s leadership. According to him, strong governance and clear direction had insulated the country from external shocks affecting other economies.
Reiterating Reliance’s long-standing association with Gujarat, Ambani described the state as central to the company’s identity and growth, calling it not just a business destination but the core of the group’s origins and future expansion.
Ambani also announced support for the Prime Minister’s vision to host the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad. He said the Reliance Foundation would partner with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex in Naranpura, positioning it as a hub for training athletes and hosting national and international sporting events.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference earlier in the day, with senior state leaders and officials attending the event, which focused on regional development, investment and infrastructure expansion.
