Shivam Dube’s 15-Ball Fifty Sparks India’s Fightback Against New Zealand

India’s run chase against New Zealand in the fourth T20I saw a dramatic turnaround as Shivam Dube launched a stunning counterattack, smashing a blistering half-century off just 15 balls to revive hopes after a top-order collapse.

Chasing a steep target of 216, India stumbled early as Abhishek Sharma fell for a golden duck on the very first ball, followed soon by Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson, leaving the hosts under heavy pressure inside the powerplay. The situation worsened as wickets continued to tumble, pushing India deep into trouble midway through the innings.

Dube, however, shifted momentum with fearless strokeplay, taking on the New Zealand spinners and pacers alike. His assault included a punishing over against Ish Sodhi, where boundaries and towering sixes flowed freely. His knock injected belief into the chase as India crossed the 100-run mark despite being five wickets down.

Earlier, New Zealand posted an imposing 215/7, built around a rapid 62 off 36 balls by Tim Seifert. A strong opening stand with Devon Conway laid the foundation before India clawed back through strikes from Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Late contributions from Daryl Mitchell ensured the visitors finished strongly.

As the chase progressed, Dube’s innings stood out as the defining moment, transforming what looked like a lost cause into a contest and reigniting the crowd’s hopes.
