Focus on ‘AI for All’
The declaration emphasises national sovereignty, equitable access and international cooperation to ensure that the benefits of Artificial Intelligence are shared widely.
Guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), the document calls for AI systems that are inclusive, secure and accessible.
Countries and entities endorsing the declaration include the US, UK, China, France, Israel, Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the European Union.
Seven Priority Areas
The New Delhi Declaration outlines action across seven key areas, including:

Democratising AI resources
-
Promoting economic growth and social good
-
Building secure and trusted AI systems
-
Expanding access for social empowerment
-
Strengthening cross-border collaboration
Officials said the emphasis remains on democratising AI infrastructure and encouraging cooperation so that AI technologies can be responsibly deployed across nations.
Summit Highlights
The AI Impact Summit was held in New Delhi from February 18 to 20. The event reportedly drew participation from more than five lakh visitors, including policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts.
The gathering positioned India as an active participant in shaping international AI governance discussions.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the summit as a “grand success,” stating that India secured investment commitments worth over $250 billion for infrastructure development.
Global Cooperation in Focus
The declaration reflects a growing consensus among countries that AI governance must balance innovation with accountability. It also underscores the need for collaboration in areas such as safety standards, infrastructure and equitable distribution of technological benefits.
While the document sets broad principles, implementation will depend on future policy measures and bilateral or multilateral partnerships.
The adoption of the New Delhi Declaration signals a coordinated attempt by participating nations to frame AI as a tool for shared progress rather than competitive dominance.
