Deepika Padukone Not Part of Brahmastra 2, Spokesperson Denies Reports

Deepika Padukone will not be part of Brahmastra 2, her spokesperson has clarified, dismissing recent reports that claimed the actor would play a major role in Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming fantasy sequel.

“All recent reports of Deepika Padukone being a part of Brahmastra 2 or associated with the project in any capacity are untrue,” her spokesperson said.

The speculation gained attention because Deepika made a brief but significant appearance as Amrita in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Her character was shown carrying a child while escaping from Dev, whose identity was revealed near the end of the film. The sequence appeared to establish an important connection for the planned sequel.

Reports recently suggested that Deepika could return as Amrita in Brahmastra 2, particularly as the story is expected to explore Dev and the wider mythology of the Astraverse. However, her spokesperson’s statement has now ruled out her involvement, at least for the current project.

The sequel is reportedly expected to begin production in 2027. Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on Ramayana, while Ayan Mukerji is developing the next chapter of the franchise.

The first Brahmastra film, released in 2022, starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy. The sequel is expected to expand the story around Dev and his connection with Shiva.
