DUSU Election 2026: Voting Underway for Four Key Posts, Results on September 19
Delhi University students are voting in the DUSU elections 2026 for four central posts, with counting scheduled for September 19.
Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 is underway on September 18, with students choosing representatives for four central posts: president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. Counting is scheduled for September 19. More than 1.51 lakh students are eligible to vote in the election.
The election features full panels from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), while AISA and SFI are contesting together. Independent candidates and candidates associated with other student groups are also in the race.
Voting for day-college students is taking place from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while students of evening colleges can cast their votes from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.
Key issues in this year’s election include hostel availability, private accommodation and PG safety, transport concessions, campus infrastructure, student safety and college-specific concerns. The Delhi government’s proposed 10,000-bed hostel plan has also emerged as an issue in the campaign.
Security arrangements have been strengthened across polling centres, with police and paramilitary personnel deployed at strategic locations. Vehicular movement has also been restricted on several roads around the university during the polling and counting process.
The election is being held under the university’s notified schedule, with the final list of qualified candidates released ahead of polling.
