India-Ethiopia Talks at BRICS Focus on Defence, Investment and Critical Minerals

India and Ethiopia discussed ways to expand strategic and economic cooperation during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The discussions focused on defence capacity building, investment, critical minerals, clean energy and healthcare.
Both sides also stressed the importance of strengthening the wider India-Africa partnership and giving developing countries a stronger voice in global affairs. The two countries highlighted the need for greater advocacy for the Global South as developing nations face economic and humanitarian challenges arising from conflicts worldwide.
Critical minerals and clean energy emerged as important areas for future cooperation, particularly as countries seek more resilient supply chains and sustainable economic growth. The talks also explored opportunities to deepen bilateral engagement while addressing shared economic and geopolitical challenges.
The India-Ethiopia discussions were part of a series of bilateral meetings held around the BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Leaders and representatives used the engagements to advance economic priorities, strategic partnerships and cooperation on international issues.
