Mohammad Rizwan Moves Lahore High Court Over NCCIA Summons
Mohammad Rizwan has approached the Lahore High Court challenging an NCCIA summons linked to an investigation following Pakistan’s England tour.
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has approached the Lahore High Court to challenge a summons issued by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) following Pakistan’s controversial Test tour of England. Rizwan had appeared before the agency in Lahore last week along with batter Imam-ul-Haq.
The two players were reportedly given detailed questionnaires seeking information about their travel, financial records and personal and professional affairs. Rizwan’s petition questions the basis and jurisdiction of the investigation and argues that no specific allegation has been made against him. He has also sought a pause in the proceedings until the court considers his petition.
The NCCIA inquiry is reportedly examining alleged dressing-room leaks and other information linked to Pakistan’s England tour. The exact connection between this investigation and a separate Pakistan Cricket Board disciplinary inquiry remains unclear.
The controversy followed a difficult Test series for Pakistan. After losing the first two matches, the PCB made major changes before the third Test, sending seven players, including Rizwan and Imam, home and replacing head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed. Pakistan subsequently lost the Edgbaston Test by eight wickets to suffer a 3-0 series defeat.
Rizwan scored 12, 41, 7 and 1 across his four innings on the tour, while his wicketkeeping received positive assessments.
Pakistan will now shift focus to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where the men’s T20 team has received direct entry into the quarter-finals, scheduled for September 28.
