Satya Nadella Highlights India-US Tech Ties at Ideas4India Forum
Satya Nadella joined more than 40 Indian-origin tech leaders in Seattle to discuss AI, innovation and deeper India-US technology cooperation.
Satya Nadella has highlighted the growing technology relationship between Seattle and India while joining more than 40 Indian-origin technology leaders at the Ideas4India forum in Seattle. The event, organised by the Consulate General of India, focused on strengthening cooperation between India and the US across artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and other emerging technologies.
Held on September 17 as a follow-up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the forum brought together CEOs and CTOs from companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, OpenAI, Anthropic and Intel. Discussions covered AI infrastructure, data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, quantum research, talent development, aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
Nadella, who attended as guest of honour, spoke about the growth of Seattle’s technology ecosystem over roughly 35 years and its strengthening relationship with India. He described AI as a general-purpose technology and said its benefits would depend on its broad adoption across countries, communities and sectors.
India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, also addressed the gathering and reiterated India’s focus on inclusivity, openness, sovereignty, democratised access, safety and trust in its AI Mission.
The forum also highlighted major investments by US technology companies in India. Microsoft has announced a $17.5 billion investment between 2026 and 2029, while Amazon has announced plans to invest $48 billion between 2026 and 2030. The Ideas4India platform is expected to support further cooperation under the India-US TRUST Initiative across AI, quantum technology, semiconductors, space, telecom and biotechnology.
