The organisers of the Cesar Awards have dismissed rumours suggesting that Jim Carrey was impersonated at this year’s ceremony in Paris.

Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the Cesar Awards, told Variety that the rumours were a “non-issue” and confirmed that Carrey’s appearance was authentic.

According to Caulier, the actor’s participation had been planned months in advance. He said Carrey worked on his acceptance speech in French for several months and even sought help with pronunciation.

Caulier described the visit as “a historic moment” for the awards ceremony and praised Carrey’s generosity and kindness during the event.
