Cesar Awards Dismiss Jim Carrey Impersonation Rumours

Cesar Awards clarify Jim Carrey personally attended ceremony in Paris after online rumours questioned his appearance at the event.

Cesar Awards Dismiss Jim Carrey Impersonation Rumours

The organisers of the Cesar Awards have dismissed rumours suggesting that Jim Carrey was impersonated at this year’s ceremony in Paris.

The clarification comes after social media users questioned whether the actor who received the Honorary Cesar Award was actually Carrey. The speculation intensified when drag artist Alexis Stone claimed he had impersonated the Hollywood star at the event.

‘A Historic Moment,’ Say Organisers

Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the Cesar Awards, told Variety that the rumours were a “non-issue” and confirmed that Carrey’s appearance was authentic.

According to Caulier, the actor’s participation had been planned months in advance. He said Carrey worked on his acceptance speech in French for several months and even sought help with pronunciation.

Caulier described the visit as “a historic moment” for the awards ceremony and praised Carrey’s generosity and kindness during the event.

Family Present at the Ceremony

Organisers also stated that Carrey attended the ceremony with his partner, daughter, grandson, and several close friends and family members. His longtime publicist was also present.

The event took place at the Olympia in Paris, where Carrey was honoured for his contribution to cinema and the visual arts.

What Jim Carrey Said in His Speech

During his acceptance speech, Carrey reflected on his journey as an actor and compared shaping characters to working with clay in a sculptor’s hands.

He thanked his daughter Jane and grandson Jackson, and paid tribute to his late father, Percy Joseph Carrey, crediting him for teaching him the values of love and laughter.

Carrey also addressed the audience in French, joking about his language skills and acknowledging he was still learning.

A Career Spanning Four Decades

Jim Carrey is widely known for films such as The Mask, Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

His career includes stand-up comedy, television, cinema, writing and visual arts, making him one of Hollywood’s most recognisable performers.

With organisers now firmly rejecting impersonation claims, the focus has shifted back to the honour itself — celebrating Carrey’s decades-long impact on global cinema.
