A new video shows a speeding SUV swerving past a bus before hitting Sahil Dhaneshra’s bike in Dwarka. Minor driver apprehended; probe underway.

Dwarka SUV Crash: Video Shows Moments Before Impact

A video clip has surfaced in connection with the fatal Dwarka road accident that claimed the life of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra in southwest Delhi.

The 12-second footage, reportedly recorded from inside the SUV, shows the vehicle moving at high speed and swerving to avoid an oncoming bus seconds before the collision. The clip ends just before the vehicle allegedly struck Sahil’s motorcycle.

Sequence of events

According to police, the SUV — a Scorpio — narrowly avoided a bus on a single-lane road. After swerving, it allegedly hit Sahil’s bike head-on. Officials said the SUV then rammed into a stationary Swift Dzire from behind.

Sahil was declared dead at the scene.

The taxi driver of the Swift Dzire, identified as Ajit Singh, sustained injuries and was taken to IGI Hospital. Police said his statement has been recorded and a final medical opinion is awaited.

All three vehicles involved in the incident have been seized and mechanically inspected. CCTV footage from the surrounding area has also been collected as part of the investigation.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Dwarka South under Sections 281, 106(1), and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is ongoing.

Juvenile driver apprehended

Police confirmed that the Scorpio was allegedly being driven by a minor without a valid driving licence. The juvenile was apprehended at the spot and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB). He was sent to an Observation Home.

On February 10, the JJB granted interim bail to the minor, citing his ongoing Class 10 board examinations.

Allegations by family

Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has alleged reckless driving and demanded strict legal action.

She claimed the SUV occupants were recording social media reels and performing stunts before the crash. She also alleged that the vehicle was in the wrong lane at high speed and that brakes were not applied after the collision.

Calling the incident “criminal activity” rather than an accident, she urged authorities to fix accountability, including on the vehicle owner if a minor was allowed to drive without a licence.

Police said they are examining claims related to possible overspeeding and prior traffic violations. However, officials have not confirmed these allegations and stated that the investigation is still underway.

A young life lost

Sahil Dhaneshra was a final-semester BBA student and had secured admission to a university in Manchester. He was preparing to pursue higher studies in the United Kingdom later this year.

Family members described him as focused and independent. He had reportedly taken up part-time work to support his education plans.

The emergence of the video has intensified public attention on the case, with calls for stricter enforcement against underage driving and reckless behaviour on city roads.

Authorities have reiterated that the probe is ongoing and further action will be taken based on evidence collected during the investigation.
