Galgotias Robodog Row: Neha Singh’s LinkedIn Update Sparks Buzz

Fresh speculation has surfaced online after Professor Neha Singh of Galgotias University updated her LinkedIn profile to show she is “open to work”, days after the robodog controversy at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The update has led to questions on social media about her employment status. However, there has been no official confirmation from the university regarding any change in her position.

What sparked the controversy?

The issue began during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Neha Singh, representing Galgotias University, introduced a robotic dog named “Orion” at the expo and described it as being developed by the university’s Centre of Excellence.

Soon after, several social media users claimed that the robotic dog was sourced from Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics. The claims quickly gained traction online, raising questions about whether the product had been misrepresented as an in-house innovation.

University’s response

Amid the criticism, Galgotias University issued multiple statements clarifying its position. In its latest response, the university apologised for the confusion and said its representative was “ill-informed” about the technical origins of the product.

The statement added that she was not authorised to speak to the press and had provided incorrect information in the enthusiasm of the moment.

The university also confirmed that it vacated its stall at the summit following directions from organisers. Reports indicated that officials viewed the incident as causing reputational concerns during the high-profile event.

Has Neha Singh been fired?

As of now, there is no official statement confirming that Neha Singh has been terminated or asked to resign.

The speculation appears to have been triggered solely by her LinkedIn profile update, which reflects her status as “open to work.” Such a status update does not automatically confirm a change in employment.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Singh joined Galgotias University in November 2023 as a faculty member in Communications at the School of Management. She has previously worked at Sharda University and Career Launcher, and holds an MBA from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya along with a B.Com degree from the University of Allahabad.

Professor’s response

In her response to the controversy, Neha Singh told Hindustan Times that it was never her intention to claim the robodog as indigenously developed.

She said the issue may have arisen due to unclear communication and acknowledged that she may not have expressed herself accurately during the interaction. Singh added that she takes accountability for the way the information was conveyed.

For now, neither Singh nor the university has confirmed any employment decision. The LinkedIn update has added to online discussions, but no official action has been publicly announced.
