Indian Embassy Advises Nationals to Leave Iran as Protests Intensify and Security Concerns Grow

The Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals to leave the country by all available means of transport as protests continue to escalate across several regions.

In its latest notice, the embassy asked Indian citizens — including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists — to depart using commercial flights or other accessible travel options, citing the rapidly evolving security situation. The advisory reiterates the need for heightened caution and advises people to avoid areas witnessing demonstrations or unrest.

Indian nationals have also been urged to remain in close contact with the embassy, monitor local developments, and keep essential travel and identification documents readily available. Those who have not yet registered with the mission have been encouraged to do so at the earliest, with families in India asked to assist in registration where internet disruptions prevent access.

Iran has witnessed sustained protests over the past two weeks, accompanied by a widespread communications blackout. International human rights groups have reported a rising death toll amid a security crackdown, intensifying concerns for foreign nationals present in the country.

The embassy has assured assistance to Indian citizens requiring help and has activated emergency helplines to respond to requests during the ongoing crisis.
