Middle East War Escalates; Oil, Air Travel Hit

The conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran intensified on Monday, with fresh missile strikes, air raids and mounting casualties reported across the Middle East.

Explosions were heard near Iran’s nuclear facilities in Isfahan, according to regional media reports. US President Donald Trump warned that a “big wave” of action could still follow, signaling further escalation.

Strikes Across Multiple Fronts

Iran launched missiles targeting Israel and several Gulf states, while Tehran-backed armed groups joined the fighting. In response, Israel carried out airstrikes in Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The Israeli military said it eliminated a senior Hezbollah intelligence official in Beirut. Hezbollah has not immediately commented on the claim.

Lebanese authorities reported at least 31 deaths following Israeli strikes. Iran’s Red Crescent said hundreds have been killed inside Iran since the conflict began.

Meanwhile, US Central Command confirmed that four American service members have died during operations linked to the conflict. Investigations are ongoing into separate incidents, including aircraft losses described as friendly fire.

Nuclear Safety Concerns

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency stated there is currently no confirmed damage to Iranian nuclear facilities. However, the agency warned that continued military action near nuclear infrastructure increases the risk of a serious radiological incident.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed it launched multiple waves of missile attacks. Israeli officials said they conducted new strikes targeting sites in Tehran. Independent verification of battlefield claims remains limited.

Oil Markets and Shipping Disrupted

Energy infrastructure has been affected as tensions spread across the Gulf region.

An oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman was attacked by what Omani authorities described as a bomb-carrying drone boat, resulting in a fire and one reported fatality. Another vessel was struck in Bahrain’s port by unidentified projectiles, according to maritime security sources.

Oil prices surged sharply amid concerns about tanker movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route. Brent crude rose more than 7% in trading, reflecting fears of supply disruptions.

Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura refinery was reportedly targeted by drones, leading to temporary operational disruptions. Regional airspace closures have also stranded thousands of passengers.

Aviation and Global Fallout

Airlines across the Middle East suspended or limited operations. Dubai Airports announced a partial resumption of flights, while several international carriers extended flight cancellations citing security concerns.

India’s Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed that hundreds of flights were cancelled and said it is monitoring passenger grievances. The government also reviewed oil supply availability to ensure domestic stability.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with leaders in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, condemning attacks and reviewing the safety of the Indian community in the region.

The US Embassy in Beirut renewed its advisory urging American citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

Diplomatic Tensions

Iran signaled it would not engage in negotiations with Washington at this stage. Senior Iranian officials reiterated that Tehran would respond firmly to what they described as aggression.

President Trump has indicated openness to dialogue but has not ruled out additional military steps.

As the conflict widens geographically, regional governments are reinforcing security measures. Global markets remain volatile, with investors closely watching developments around oil supply and diplomatic efforts.
