Noida Entrepreneur’s Post on Board Exams Goes Viral

As board exam season begins across India, a social media post by Noida-based entrepreneur Vineet Nayar has sparked widespread discussion.

In a message shared on X, Nayar wrote, “If board exams decided life, half the CEOs would be unemployed.” The post quickly went viral, drawing both support and criticism from users.

“Boards are important, but not destiny”

Nayar clarified that his message was not meant to dismiss academics. He began by stating that board exams are important, but they do not define a person’s future.

He urged students to focus on preparation, give their best effort, and accept the results calmly. According to him, exams are just one stage in life, not the final verdict on success.

A personal story from 1979

Recalling his Class 12 experience under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 1979, Nayar shared that he had a difficult Chemistry exam and felt anxious afterward.

He wrote that a relative asked him a simple question: whether he would “die” if he failed. That moment, he said, changed his perspective. Two days later, he appeared for his Mathematics exam feeling calmer and more focused.

He revealed that he scored 94 in Mathematics and had an overall percentage of 71. His marksheet, shared alongside the post, reinforced his argument that one subject or one paper does not determine an entire career.

“Exams test memory. Life tests courage,” he wrote, adding that board exams are only one level in the larger journey of life.

Online reactions mixed

The post generated strong reactions online.

Some users appreciated the message and praised his academic performance, especially considering the era in which he appeared for the exam. Others, however, offered a different perspective.

One user pointed out that for many middle-class families, marks still play a significant role in shaping opportunities. Another shared a personal story about nearly failing due to low practical exam scores despite performing well in other subjects.

The discussion reflects an ongoing debate in India about the weight placed on board exam results and academic performance.

A message to students

Nayar’s post ended with practical advice for students: study hard, sleep well, and approach exams without fear. He added a light-hearted touch, encouraging students to stay calm and not treat exams as a life-and-death situation.

As CBSE and other board examinations approach, his message has resonated with many households dealing with academic pressure.

While opinions remain divided, the broader conversation continues around how students can balance ambition with mental well-being during exam season.
