10 Dead in Canada School Double Shooting

At least 10 people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a double shooting in Canada’s British Columbia province, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), six victims were found dead inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in the Peace region. One additional victim died while being transported to hospital.

Police said the suspected shooter was also found dead at the scene, reportedly from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.

Second location linked

Authorities later identified a second location believed to be connected to the incident. Two more victims were found deceased at a nearby residence, bringing the total death toll to 10.

Two individuals were airlifted to hospital with serious or life-threatening injuries. Around 25 others were assessed and treated at a local medical centre for injuries, police said.

Emergency response and evacuation

An emergency text alert issued Tuesday afternoon described the suspect as a “female in a dress with brown hair.” The alert was later cancelled after officials determined there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Police officers entered the school as part of the initial response to the active shooting and located multiple victims during their search. All remaining students and staff were safely evacuated.

Authorities said they are working with the school district to coordinate family reunification and provide support to affected families.

Investigation ongoing

At a press briefing, RCMP Chief Superintendent Ken Floyd stated that investigators believe they have identified the shooter. However, no further details have been released at this stage to protect the integrity of the investigation and respect privacy considerations.

Officials have not publicly disclosed the identity of the suspect or the victims.

The shooting has prompted expressions of grief and concern across the region. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged the public to rely on official updates for accurate information.
