7 Killed in Bengaluru SUV Crash, 6 Were Students

Seven people, including six students, lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash early Friday morning near Kambalipura Gate in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district, police said.

The accident occurred between 4.15am and 4.30am on the Dobbaspet-Hoskote Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR). Authorities said the SUV was allegedly travelling at a high speed when the crash took place.

How the Accident Happened

According to police officials, the SUV first hit a motorcycle and then rammed into a moving truck. The impact was severe, leaving the SUV completely damaged.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 26-year-old Gagan, died at the scene. The six occupants of the SUV were also found dead inside the vehicle.

Police said the SUV was reportedly being driven at around 150–160 kmph, while the posted speed limit on the stretch is 100 kmph. Officials stated that the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before the collision.

Victims Identified

The deceased students were identified as Ahram Sharif (16), Ashvin Nayar (17), Eethan George (17), Ayan Ali (17), Bharath (17), and Mohammed Farhan Shaik (18).

Police said five of them were minors. The group was reportedly travelling towards Devanahalli at the time of the accident.

Gagan, the motorcycle rider, was a warehouse supervisor from Channarayapatna taluk.

Truck Overturned, Second Collision

After being hit from behind, the truck’s rear axle reportedly broke, causing the vehicle to lose balance and topple. The truck driver, Balasubramaniam (32), sustained injuries but survived.

Around 15 minutes later, another car travelling towards Bengaluru airport collided with the truck’s detached axle and wheel assembly that remained on the road. Two occupants of that car suffered minor injuries.

Police said the second driver alerted authorities about the incident.

Official Statement

Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Chandrakanth MV said that after hitting the truck, the SUV scraped along a crash barrier for nearly 150 metres before coming to a halt.

CCTV cameras and speed radars are present on the highway, but officials said specific footage of the crash was not immediately available.

The injured truck driver told police that he was driving steadily in his lane when the SUV hit his vehicle from behind. He reportedly lost consciousness after the impact.

Investigation Underway

Police have registered a case and are investigating the sequence of events, including the alleged overspeeding. Further technical analysis and CCTV review are expected as part of the probe.

The incident has once again raised concerns about high-speed driving on highways, especially during early morning hours.

Authorities have urged motorists to follow speed limits and exercise caution to prevent such tragedies.
