Bomb Threat Note Found on IndiGo Kolkata Flight

An IndiGo flight scheduled to depart from Kolkata to Shillong was moved to an isolation bay on Saturday morning after a bomb threat note was found onboard, airport officials said.

The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E3074, which was set to leave Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 9:15 am for Shillong, Meghalaya.

Threat Found During Boarding

According to the airport director, the crew discovered a handwritten note inside the aircraft’s toilet compartment during boarding. The note reportedly mentioned the presence of a bomb on the plane.

Following standard security procedures, all passengers were immediately deboarded. The aircraft was then shifted to the airport’s isolation bay for further checks.

Security personnel began a detailed inspection of the aircraft soon after the alert.

IndiGo Confirms Incident

In a statement, IndiGo confirmed that a security threat was noticed onboard the flight.

The airline said that it informed relevant authorities immediately and followed established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). IndiGo added that it is cooperating fully with security agencies conducting the checks.

The airline also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and stated that safety and security remain its top priorities.

Search Underway

As of the latest update, security checks were ongoing. Officials have not reported any recovery of suspicious materials so far. Further details are awaited from authorities.

Airport officials said that passenger safety was ensured at all times and the situation was being handled as per protocol.

Similar Incident Last Month

This is not the first such incident in recent weeks. On January 23, another IndiGo flight — 6E 2608 operating from Delhi to Pune — received a bomb threat after landing at Pune airport.

In that case, a handwritten note was also found inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The plane was moved to an isolation bay, and the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened. After a thorough inspection by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, no suspicious items were found, and the aircraft was cleared for normal operations.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether the latest incident in Kolkata is linked to previous cases.

Investigations are ongoing, and officials are expected to share more details after the security checks are completed.
