Ahmedabad Weather Likely Hot for IND vs NZ T20 Final

The weather in Ahmedabad is expected to remain hot and dry as the city prepares to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team on Sunday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), clear skies are likely throughout the day, with no rainfall predicted during the match.

High Temperatures Expected

Weather data from IMD indicates that the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad may reach around 39°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain close to 19°C.

Officials said several areas across Gujarat are currently experiencing temperatures in the 35°C to 40°C range, indicating an early rise in summer heat.

Meteorologists have also forecast that day temperatures may increase by another 2–3°C over the next three days.

Hot and Humid Conditions Forecast

IMD has warned that hot and humid weather conditions may occur in isolated parts of Gujarat, especially in coastal regions, Saurashtra, and Kutch between March 9 and March 11.

These conditions come as large crowds are expected to gather at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the highly anticipated final match.

Heat Building Across India

Rising temperatures are not limited to Gujarat. Several regions across India have also recorded above-normal temperatures in recent days.

On March 7, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 40.8°C in Akola, signalling the early build-up of summer conditions.

Daytime temperatures between 35°C and 40°C have already been reported in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, south Haryana, southwest Uttar Pradesh, central India, and southern peninsular regions.

Meanwhile, most other parts of the country recorded temperatures in the 30°C to 35°C range.

Heatwave Alerts in Some Regions

IMD has issued heatwave warnings for isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh and the Vidarbha region for March 8.

Similar heatwave conditions may also develop in parts of west Rajasthan between March 10 and March 11, according to the forecast.

Temperatures in some areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are already running 5–8°C above normal, while many locations in northwest and central India are seeing temperatures 3–5°C higher than usual.

Rain Possible in Other Regions

While western India continues to experience heat, weather activity may bring relief to some parts of the country.

IMD forecasts rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in parts of eastern and northeastern India, as well as the western Himalayan region, between March 8 and March 13.

For Ahmedabad, however, the forecast suggests a hot match day with clear skies, meaning weather disruptions are unlikely during the T20 World Cup final.
