78th Emmy Awards Winners List: Widow's Bay, The Pitt Lead Big Wins
Widow's Bay and The Pitt dominated the 78th Emmy Awards, while Noah Wyle, Rhea Seehorn and Jean Smart scored major acting wins.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated the biggest television performances and productions at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on September 14. Hosted by Mariska Hargitay, the ceremony saw Widow's Bay and The Pitt dominate the top comedy and drama categories, respectively.
Widow's Bay emerged as the biggest winner with 14 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Matthew Rhys won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while Stephen Root took Supporting Actor and Betty Gilpin won Guest Actress for the series. The Pitt retained its Outstanding Drama Series title, with Noah Wyle winning Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Rhea Seehorn earned her first Emmy for Pluribus after winning Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Jean Smart continued her remarkable run with her fifth consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award for Hacks. Tom Pelphrey won Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Task, while Allison Janney took Supporting Actress for The Diplomat.
Other notable winners included David Harbour and Linda Cardellini for DTF St Louis, Shailene Woodley for Paradise, Rob Reiner for The Bear, and the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show starring Bad Bunny for Outstanding Variety Special (Live). South Park won Outstanding Animated Programme, while The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
