Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5: Ajay Devgn’s Kajol Joke Goes Viral
Ajay Devgn joked on The Great Indian Kapil Show that Drishyam would never have been made if Kajol had been part of the first film.
Ajay Devgn brought his trademark deadpan humour to the opening episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 while promoting Drishyam: The Conclusion with the film’s cast.
During the conversation, Kapil Sharma asked director Abhishek Pathak what might have happened if Kajol had been cast in the first Drishyam film. The question referred to the franchise’s central storyline, where Ajay’s character, Vijay Salgaonkar, goes to extraordinary lengths to protect his family and conceal a crime.
Ajay’s response was quick and perfectly on brand: the first film would never have been made. The joke suggested that Kajol’s character would have figured out the truth too quickly and made Vijay’s elaborate plan impossible.
The episode also featured Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Jaideep Ahlawat and director Abhishek Pathak. Jaideep spoke about his long association with Ajay, dating back to his first film Aakrosh, while Sunil Grover entertained the guests with an imitation of Ajay.
Kapil also joked about his 15-year acquaintance with Ajay, saying they had barely exchanged more than basic greetings despite knowing each other for so long.
Season 5 will feature guests from Bollywood, television, OTT and cricket, including Tamannaah Bhatia, Sidharth Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi, Zakir Khan, Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar.
The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 premieres on Netflix on September 26 at 8 pm, with new episodes streaming every Saturday. Apparently, even after years of Drishyam-level secrets, Ajay still cannot escape Kapil’s questions.
