India Men’s Cricket Team Faces Kit Delays Ahead of Asian Games
India’s men’s cricket team is dealing with jersey sizing issues ahead of its Asian Games departure, following a similar kit delay involving flag-bearer Tajinderpal Singh Toor.
India’s men’s cricket team is facing kit-sizing issues ahead of its departure for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, with some players still waiting for correctly sized official jerseys. The matter has involved repeated communication between the BCCI and JSW Inspire, the Indian Olympic Association’s kit supplier.
Most of the sizing problems have reportedly been resolved, although a few players are still awaiting their kits. The Shreyas Iyer-led team is scheduled to leave New Delhi early on Sunday.
India will use two different sets of jerseys during its stay in Japan. The team will wear its regular cricket kit for a T20I against Japan on September 22 before switching to the official Asian Games jersey for the tournament.
The kit issue follows a similar problem involving shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor, who was replaced as India’s male flag-bearer after he could not travel to Nagoya because he had not received his official Games kit. Kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat eventually took his place alongside Manu Bhaker.
The BCCI has also arranged separate accommodation for the men’s cricket team after the rooms provided by organisers reportedly lacked enough space for players’ cricket bags.
Meanwhile, India’s women’s team has already reached the cricket semi-finals after defeating Japan by eight wickets.
The men’s cricket campaign begins with the quarter-finals on September 28, with India defending the gold medal it won at the 2023 Asian Games.
At this point, India’s biggest pre-match opponent might just be... the delivery schedule.
