Meta Phoenix VR Headset Leak Reveals Super-Slim Glasses-Like Design
Leaked Horizon OS firmware visuals offer a first look at Meta’s rumored Phoenix mixed-reality headset, revealing its slim design and prescription lens support.
Meta’s mysterious Phoenix headset has surfaced in leaked Horizon OS firmware visuals, offering a first look at what could be one of the company’s thinnest mixed-reality devices yet. The images reportedly show a glasses-like design, removable prescription lens inserts and possible details about the headset’s setup process.
The leaked visuals appear to show a slim frame with separate nose pads instead of the bulky face interface commonly found on VR headsets. Sensors are visible around the sides and underside of the arms, while a cable appears to extend from the end of the left temple, potentially connecting the headset to an external computing puck.
The firmware animations also demonstrate how prescription lens inserts could be positioned in front of the headset’s built-in lenses. Another visual shows a QR-code card being held near the device, suggesting a possible method for pairing or initial setup.
Phoenix has reportedly been developed under other codenames, including Stanley and Loma. It is expected to target the premium mixed-reality market with a significantly slimmer design. Despite its glasses-like appearance, the device is reportedly expected to rely on cameras and displays to recreate a view of the surroundings rather than transparent lenses.
The leak does not confirm the final name, pricing, specifications or launch date. With Meta Connect 2026 approaching, more details could emerge, although Meta has yet to officially announce Phoenix.
