PM Modi Meets Vladimir Putin for Talks on Trade, Energy and Defence Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held bilateral talks focused on strengthening strategic ties, expanding trade and cooperation in energy and defence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held bilateral talks with senior officials from both countries, focusing on strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between India and Russia.
The discussions centred on expanding bilateral trade, with the two sides working towards the goal of taking annual trade to $100 billion. Addressing the trade deficit between India and Russia was also a key issue during the meeting.
The leaders also discussed ways to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, which remains an important component of the India-Russia partnership. Defence cooperation was another major focus of the talks as both countries looked at strengthening their strategic and security ties.
India was represented by External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, among other senior officials.
The meeting comes as India and Russia continue efforts to expand economic engagement while maintaining their longstanding cooperation in defence, energy and other strategic areas.
