Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 With Agentic AI
Qualcomm has launched its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series with 2nm technology, faster performance, advanced on-device AI and upgrades for gaming and cameras.
Qualcomm has launched its latest flagship mobile platforms, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, targeting the next generation of premium Android smartphones. Announced at the Snapdragon Summit in Maui on September 23, the new chips are built on a 2nm process and focus on faster performance, on-device AI, gaming, cameras and connectivity.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is positioned as Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform, combining a custom Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU. Its CPU can reach speeds of up to 5.0GHz, while features such as Adreno Neural Fusion use AI to enhance gaming graphics and visuals.
Qualcomm is also highlighting agentic AI, with the new platforms designed to support more context-aware and personalised AI experiences that can adapt to users’ needs throughout the day.
For photography and video, the Extreme variant introduces features including Advanced Professional Video and Intelligent Pixel Control, which Qualcomm says can improve scene understanding and image quality.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 uses the same 2nm technology and core architecture while bringing many of the flagship features to a wider range of premium smartphones.
Qualcomm says devices powered by the new chips will come from HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo and Xiaomi. Exact models have not yet been announced.
