Jiah Khan’s Mother Urges CBI to Preserve Evidence in Disha Salian Case
Rabya Khan has urged the CBI to carefully preserve and examine evidence in the fresh Disha Salian probe after Sooraj Pancholi’s name appeared in the FIR.
Rabya Khan, mother of late actor Jiah Khan, has urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure that critical evidence is preserved and thoroughly examined in its fresh investigation into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. Her comments came after actor Sooraj Pancholi’s name appeared in the CBI FIR.
The FIR was registered following a Bombay High Court direction for a fresh probe into Salian’s June 2020 death. Although Pancholi and other individuals, including Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Rohan Roy, are mentioned in the FIR, the document does not identify anyone as an accused. The CBI is examining their possible relevance to the investigation.
Pancholi has previously said that he did not know Salian. He was also acquitted by a special CBI court in 2023 in the case concerning Jiah Khan’s death after the court found insufficient evidence to establish abetment to suicide.
Rabya Khan referred to her own long-running legal battle while expressing concern that delays could make it harder to examine forensic evidence. She alleged that investigative shortcomings seen in Jiah’s case could be repeated and said Salian deserved the truth.
Salian was found dead in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, shortly before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Her death was initially recorded as an accidental death, while the latest CBI probe follows a petition filed by her father seeking further investigation.
