Gambhir Laughs as Abhishek’s Pep Talk Lifts India

India head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen laughing during a lively team huddle after Abhishek Sharma delivered an energetic pep talk ahead of the Super 8 match against South Africa in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The moment took place during India’s training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the defending champions are preparing for the crucial clash.

Positive Vibes in Camp

Abhishek, who has yet to score in the tournament after registering three consecutive ducks, stepped into the centre of the huddle to motivate his teammates.

Before addressing the squad, he said he simply wanted to keep the momentum going and hoped his words would help.

In his speech, Abhishek urged the team to continue enjoying each other’s performances and focus on getting the basics right. He concluded with the Sikh slogan, “Jo Bole So Nihaal, Sat Sri Akal,” prompting smiles and laughter from Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The light-hearted moment reflected a relaxed and confident dressing room atmosphere ahead of the business end of the tournament.

Abhishek’s Tough Run

Despite being ranked World No. 1 in T20 Internationals, Abhishek has struggled so far in the competition. Across three matches, he has been dismissed without scoring and has faced only eight deliveries in total.

In a previous game against the Netherlands, he attempted to change his fortunes by wearing Mohammed Siraj’s jersey when coming out to bat. However, he was bowled in the opening over.

He had also missed a match earlier in the tournament due to a stomach infection and was hospitalised before the game against Namibia. Team management opted not to risk him at that time.

Super 8 Challenge Ahead

India are placed in Group 1 of the Super 8 stage alongside South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe. The team will face South Africa on Sunday as they aim to maintain momentum in the knockout phase.

The Super 8 stage begins with Pakistan taking on New Zealand, marking the start of the decisive stretch of the tournament.

India’s training ground moment suggests that despite individual setbacks, team morale remains strong as they push forward in their title defence.
