Pakistan and the United States have commenced a joint counter-terrorism military exercise aimed at strengthening operational coordination and addressing emerging security challenges.
The 13th bilateral exercise, titled Inspired Gambit–2026, began on January 9 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Punjab’s Kharian district. The two-week-long drill brings together contingents from the armies of Pakistan and the United States, focusing exclusively on counter-terrorism operations.
According to official statements, the exercise is designed to enhance mutual understanding, improve interoperability, and facilitate the exchange of operational experience in combating terrorism. Troops from both sides will engage in joint training sessions to refine tactics, techniques, and procedures essential for effective counter-terrorism missions.
The National Counter Terrorism Centre is a key training facility used by Pakistan for joint exercises with international partners. Military officials emphasised that such collaborative drills are crucial in responding to evolving regional and global security threats, while also raising professional military standards.
The exercise reflects continued defence engagement between Pakistan and the United States, underscoring a shared interest in countering terrorism and improving coordination in complex operational environments.
