Rajpal Yadav Responds to Sonu Sood’s Offer

Actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav addressed the media in Mumbai amid the ongoing ₹9 crore cheque bounce case, responding to recent comments by Sonu Sood about offering him work.

Arriving at the press interaction with his lawyer Bhaskar Upadhyay, Rajpal clarified that he does not depend on public appeals for employment.

“Please get over the misconception that I need to keep asking for work,” he said. He added that while there is no shame in seeking work, he has remained consistently active in the industry and continues to receive projects.

Upcoming Films and Web Series

The actor shared details about his professional commitments for the year. He said he will be seen in a film directed by Priyadarshan titled Bhoot Bangla. He is also part of Welcome To The Jungle, which features a large ensemble cast, and another film titled Haiwaan, where he has a brief but impactful role.

In addition, Rajpal confirmed that he is working on two web series and several other projects that he is not yet at liberty to discuss.

He stated that he has committed to around 10 films in the coming period.

Long-Term Projects and Branding Deals

At the conference, Rajpal revealed that he has long-term agreements spanning several years. According to him, he has signed multiple agreements — apart from films — involving branding ventures and collaborations.

He explained that his earnings structure includes professional fees and equity participation in certain projects. While he mentioned high-value ventures, no official documentation was presented at the event.

Legal Relief in Cheque Bounce Case

Rajpal also addressed the legal developments in the ₹9 crore cheque bounce matter.

The Delhi High Court recently granted interim suspension of his sentence until March 18. The bench directed him to furnish a personal bond of ₹1 lakh along with one surety of the same amount.

The court noted that ₹1.5 crore has already been deposited in the respondent’s bank account while granting temporary relief.

The case remains under judicial consideration.

Support During Jail Period

The actor spoke emotionally about the support he received during his time in jail. He said people from across the country reached out to him, including children who reportedly sent savings from their piggy banks.

He mentioned that financial assistance was also transferred through social media platforms. Rajpal said he plans to formally thank supporters and intends to return the help once given sufficient time.

Maintaining Professional Focus

Despite the legal challenges, Rajpal maintained that he remains focused on his work.

He emphasised that cinema is his passion and that he continues to stay professionally active. His remarks appeared aimed at clarifying speculation around his career following the legal case.

The cheque bounce matter is still ongoing, and further hearings are expected in the coming weeks.
