School students in Delhi’s Sonia Vihar have taken to the streets to protest the poor condition of Sadhe Char Pusta Road. Calling themselves “Gen Alpha,” the students joined local residents in demanding immediate repairs and cleaning of the damaged stretch.
The road is used daily by thousands of schoolchildren travelling to and from several schools in the area. Students and residents said the broken, dirty and poorly maintained road has made their daily commute difficult and raised concerns over their safety.
During the protest, students raised slogans against the Delhi Government and demanded quick action from the authorities. Municipal Councillor Brajesh Singh said the issue could not be ignored because children use the road every day.
“Thousands of children use this road every day to go to school. They are being forced to travel through broken roads and filth. The authorities must take immediate action,” Singh said.
A video of the protest has also gained attention on social media. The footage shows students and residents gathering on the road and raising slogans over the civic conditions.
Residents have called for the damaged road to be repaired and the surrounding area cleaned at the earliest. They said the administration should prioritise the safety and convenience of schoolchildren instead of allowing the problem to continue.
The protest has renewed attention on the civic challenges faced by Sonia Vihar residents. The key question now is when the concerned authorities will act and provide thousands of students with a safer route to school.
