Ajith Thanks Vijay for Silverstone Visit, Dreams of Le Mans Cup in India
Ajith Kumar thanked Vijay for attending the Silverstone Le Mans Cup race and expressed hope that India, especially Chennai, can host major motorsport events.
Ajith Kumar has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister-elect and actor Vijay for accepting an invitation to attend his racing team’s event at Silverstone in the UK. Vijay is expected to wave the green flag at the Michelin Le Mans Cup race on September 12, where Ajith and other Indian drivers will compete.
Ajith said he and Vijay have known each other for 34 years and expressed happiness over the latter’s visit. He also praised efforts to promote sports in Tamil Nadu and said he hopes India, particularly Chennai, can eventually host motorsport events of a similar scale.
Ajith’s team, Ajith RedAnt by Virage, will compete in the LMP3 Pro/Am category, with Ajith sharing the car with French driver Romain Vozniak. The event will also feature an all-Indian pairing, with former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan and Aditya Patel competing for Ajith RedAnt Racing.
Vijay’s Silverstone appearance comes amid plans to strengthen sports infrastructure in Chennai, including proposals for dedicated Olympic and motorsport facilities. His presence at the race has therefore attracted attention beyond the film industry.
The appearance also brings together two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, whose fan bases have been involved in a long-running rivalry since the 1990s. This time, however, Ajith and Vijay are sharing the spotlight in support of motorsport and Indian racers.
