Asian Games 2026: India Reach Kabaddi Semifinals Unbeaten
Defending champions India defeated Chinese Taipei 37-21 to complete an unbeaten Group A campaign and reach the Asian Games 2026 kabaddi semifinals.
Defending champions India booked their place in the men’s kabaddi semifinals at the Asian Games 2026 with a 37-21 win over Chinese Taipei. The victory completed an unbeaten Group A campaign, with India winning all four of their matches and securing at least a bronze medal.
India had earlier defeated South Korea, Japan and Bangladesh before facing Chinese Taipei at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium. They dominated from the opening stages, with Aslam Inamdar and Rahul Sethpal putting pressure on the opposition attack. Sethpal was particularly effective in defence, using repeated ankle holds to restrict Chinese Taipei’s raiders.
India produced two all-outs in the first half and went into the break with a commanding 23-11 lead. Chinese Taipei attempted to fight back after the restart, but India maintained control through consistent raiding and defence.
Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab contributed crucial points in the second half as India continued extending their advantage. The defending champions eventually completed another all-out before sealing a 16-point victory.
India scored 28 points through successful raids, three bonus points and six points from all-outs. Chinese Taipei managed nine bonus points and two Super Tackles but could not close the gap.
India will play their semifinal on September 25 as they continue their title defence. The Indian women’s team has also started strongly, defeating Bangladesh and Iran in their opening Group A matches.
