Ayushmann Khurrana on Pakistan Zindabad Chant in Udta Teer
Ayushmann Khurrana has explained why he chanted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in Udta Teer and discussed playing a Pakistani spy in the upcoming comedy.
Ayushmann Khurrana has addressed the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chant featured in Udta Teer, explaining that the dialogue is part of the script and that he approaches such moments as an actor following the director’s vision. He discussed the scene at the film’s trailer launch on September 23.
Directed by debutant Akash A Kaushik, Udta Teer follows Bilal Ahmed, a Pakistani agent who loses his memory during a mission and begins believing that he is Indian. The spy comedy combines action, humour and political satire around the character’s identity confusion.
Asked whether chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ was difficult for him, Khurrana said it was simply part of the script and that actors have to perform what the role requires. He described Udta Teer as a “spy comedy”, “patriotic comedy” and “genre bender”, adding that he starts with the script and follows what it demands.
The film also features Sara Ali Khan, Gulshan Grover, Ram Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Smita Tambe and Brijendra Kala. It marks another collaboration between Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan.
Udta Teer also features Mukul Dev in his final on-screen appearance. Khurrana described the film as a tribute to the late actor, while Kaushik called his performance one of his finest. Produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, Udta Teer is scheduled to release in theatres on October 9.
