Congress and INDIA bloc workers staged demonstrations across central Delhi on October 12, raising the slogan “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar.

Protesters gathered near Himachal Bhavan in the Mandi House area alongside Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. They attempted to march towards the Supreme Court as part of the opposition’s protest campaign.

Meanwhile, INDIA bloc leaders assembled outside the Constitution Club on Rafi Marg under the “Delhi Chalo” call. Protesters alleged that democratic rights and voting freedoms were under threat.

Delhi Police deployed heavy security, including paramilitary personnel, across parts of Lutyens’ Delhi. Authorities also enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to restrict public gatherings.

The demonstrations caused traffic disruptions around Mandi House as tensions rose during the protests.

Reports also indicated that the Ministry of Home Affairs had removed Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites. Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and Shahdara Ground were reportedly identified as alternative venues for demonstrations.

The protests reflect the INDIA bloc’s campaign against the Election Commission leadership. The opposition’s allegations remain claims made by the protesting parties.
