Opposition INDIA bloc Members of Parliament are scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu to submit a memorandum raising concerns about the functioning of the Election Commission of India.

Ahead of the meeting, opposition MPs will gather at the Central Hall of the old Parliament building to finalise the delegation. A 10-member team is expected to present the memorandum, outlining the opposition’s demands and grievances.

The INDIA bloc is seeking presidential intervention over its concerns about the electoral process. Its demands include the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the immediate suspension of ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercises.

The move comes amid escalating tensions between the opposition and the Election Commission, with opposition parties questioning aspects of electoral administration and raising allegations of irregularities.

The proposed meeting is part of a broader campaign by opposition leaders to press their concerns through institutional channels. Further demonstrations are also being planned as the INDIA bloc seeks action on its demands.

The President’s response to the memorandum, if any, could become a focal point in the continuing political dispute over the Election Commission’s functioning and the conduct of electoral processes.
