Jasprit Bumrah vs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: India Star Tests Teen Sensation in Nets
Jasprit Bumrah returned to training in style, giving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi a stern examination during India's nets ahead of the Afghanistan T20I series.
Jasprit Bumrah made an impressive return to India's training camp in Delhi, showing little sign of rust after a lengthy injury layoff. During a demanding net session ahead of the T20I series against Afghanistan, Bumrah bowled to teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and made the young batter work hard.
The pair had previously faced each other in the IPL, where Sooryavanshi famously hit Bumrah for a six at the age of 15. Their latest encounter in the India nets was a very different contest, with Bumrah repeatedly troubling the youngster with yorkers, sharp length deliveries and movement away from the bat.
One delivery produced an edge from Sooryavanshi that would have been an easy catch for a wicketkeeper. Bumrah immediately celebrated the moment, underlining the intensity of his comeback session.
The fast bowler also tested Sanju Samson with yorkers and short deliveries during an extended spell. He bowled at full intensity for around 45 minutes and appeared comfortable throughout the session.
Bumrah's return is a major boost for India ahead of the Afghanistan series after his recent knee injury had kept him out of action. He was among several players involved in an extended training session in Delhi, although Ishan Kishan later experienced an injury scare after being struck by a delivery while batting.
