A major oil facility in Bahrain was hit during the ongoing regional conflict after reports of an Iranian strike triggered a large fire at the country’s main refinery.
Videos circulating online show thick black smoke rising from the refinery complex operated by BAPCO, following the reported attack.
Strike Hits Bahrain’s Largest Refinery
According to witnesses and regional media reports, the refinery in the Sitra area was struck during an Iranian drone attack, resulting in visible damage and injuries.
Authorities had earlier confirmed that several people were injured and nearby infrastructure was affected in the incident.
The BAPCO refinery is one of Bahrain’s most important energy facilities and plays a crucial role in the country’s oil processing and exports.
Escalating Conflict in the Middle East
The attack comes amid escalating tensions across the Middle East following a widening conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The situation intensified after the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader after the death of Ali Khamenei.
Since then, multiple missile and drone strikes have been reported across several countries in the region.
Earlier Missile Attack Also Reported
Reports suggest that earlier in the week, a ballistic missile also struck the refinery, causing large fires at the critical energy installation.
The refinery attack highlights the growing risks to oil infrastructure across the Gulf, raising concerns about energy supply disruptions and regional security.
