Israel Claims F-14 Jets Destroyed in Strike on Isfahan Airport

Israel says it struck Iran’s Isfahan airport and destroyed several F-14 fighter jets while targeting air defence systems during ongoing conflict.

Israel Claims F-14 Jets Destroyed in Strike on Isfahan Airport

The Israeli military has said it carried out airstrikes on an airport in Isfahan, Iran, claiming that several fighter jets were destroyed during the operation.

In a statement shared on the messaging platform Telegram, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes targeted aircraft and air defence systems that were considered a threat to Israeli military operations.

Israeli Military Statement

According to the Israeli military, the attack destroyed a number of F-14 fighter aircraft at the airport. Officials did not specify how many jets were affected.

The IDF also said that detection and air defence systems in the area were struck during the operation.

“These systems posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft,” the military said in its statement.

Earlier Strikes Reported

The Israeli military also claimed that a previous operation earlier this week had targeted aircraft linked to Iran’s Quds Force at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.

According to the statement, that strike allegedly destroyed 16 aircraft associated with the force.

These claims have not been independently verified.

Strategic Location of Isfahan

The attack reportedly took place at an airport in Isfahan, located in a province that also hosts key energy and nuclear facilities.

One of Iran’s major nuclear installations, the Natanz Nuclear Facility, is located within the same province.

Because of its strategic importance, the region has previously been at the centre of international discussions and negotiations involving Iran’s nuclear programme.

Conflict Continues to Escalate

The latest strikes come amid an ongoing conflict between Iran and a coalition involving the United States and Israel, which began after coordinated attacks on February 28.

Since then, missile and drone attacks have been reported across several parts of the Middle East. Regional tensions have also disrupted energy markets and transportation routes.

Several countries are closely monitoring the situation as military activity continues across the region.
