The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 and reopened the application window for eligible candidates. The revised examination date will be announced separately by the board.
According to the latest CBSE notice, candidates who missed the earlier registration opportunity can submit their CTET 2026 applications from August 25 to September 1, 2026. Those who have already successfully completed their registration do not need to apply again.
CBSE said the decision was taken following a recent Supreme Court judgment that emphasised providing eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to fulfil the statutory requirement of obtaining the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test qualification.
The CTET application process for the 22nd edition was previously held from May 11 to June 10, 2026. The reopening of the registration portal is expected to give another opportunity to eligible candidates who were unable to apply during that period.
Candidates can visit the official CTET website to complete the application process. They need to select the CTET September 2026 application link, log in or register, fill in the required details and submit the form within the extended deadline.
Applicants are advised to carefully check eligibility conditions and other instructions before submitting their forms. CBSE has also clarified that the new CTET 2026 examination date will be announced later.
Candidates should regularly check official CBSE and CTET notifications for the revised exam schedule and further updates.
