FIR Filed Against Badshah Over ‘Tateeree’ Song Row

Rapper Badshah is facing legal scrutiny after an FIR was filed over his recently released Haryanvi song Tateeree.

The complaint alleges that the track and its music video contain obscene language and visuals, prompting authorities to begin an investigation.

According to reports, the FIR was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Panchkula, Haryana, following complaints from residents who raised concerns about the content.

Allegations Mentioned in Complaint

The complaint reportedly states that the song and its official video feature language, gestures and scenes involving girls in school uniforms, which the complainant claims may send a negative message to society.

Police officials have begun examining the matter after receiving the complaint. Authorities said the case is currently under investigation.

Legal Sections Invoked

According to officials, the FIR includes charges under Section 296 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which relates to acts that allegedly disturb public decency or social harmony.

The complaint also refers to provisions under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, specifically Sections 3 and 4. These sections prohibit the creation or circulation of material that allegedly portrays women in an indecent manner.

Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further action will depend on the findings.

Women’s Commission Takes Note

The controversy had earlier drawn attention from the Haryana State Women’s Commission.

Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia said the panel had taken suo motu cognisance of the issue and issued a notice to the singer.

Complaints were also reportedly submitted by social groups and individuals who raised objections to certain lyrics in the song.

Tateeree was released on March 1, 2026 as a Haryanvi hip-hop track. The song features vocals by Badshah and singer Simran Jaglan.

The lyrics were written by Badshah, while the music was composed and produced by Hiten. The official music video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu.

Authorities have not announced any further legal steps yet, and the matter remains under review.
