Indian National Arrested by US Immigration in San Diego

United States immigration authorities have arrested an Indian national in San Diego, citing an alleged criminal record. Officials said the individual will remain in custody while legal proceedings related to his removal from the country continue.

The arrest was announced by the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office in San Diego, a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, through a post on the social media platform X.

Arrest Announced by ICE Officials

According to the statement, the person arrested has been identified as Jaskaran Singh.

Authorities said Singh has a final order of removal, meaning immigration courts have previously determined that he may be deported from the United States.

Officials also stated that Singh’s alleged criminal history includes a hit-and-run case.

In its statement, the ERO office said Singh would remain in immigration custody pending removal proceedings, which determine whether a non-citizen will be deported from the country.

Second Arrest of Indian National Reported

The announcement came shortly after authorities in San Diego reported the arrest of another Indian national.

According to the ERO office, Jashanpreet Singh was taken into custody a day earlier due to alleged criminal offences.

Officials said the alleged offences included threatening a crime with intent to terrorise, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence (DUI).

Removal Proceedings Continue

Immigration officials said both individuals will remain in custody as their cases move through the legal process.

Removal proceedings are part of the US immigration system and are used to determine whether a foreign national without legal status, or with certain legal violations, should be deported.

Authorities have not released additional details about the cases so far.
