Iranians Get Anonymous Texts Amid US-Iran Tensions

Thousands in Iran reportedly receive anonymous text messages as US-Iran tensions rise and Washington considers possible military options.

Iranians Get Anonymous Texts Amid US-Iran Tensions

Thousands of people in Iran reportedly received anonymous text messages on Monday warning of possible action by the United States, according to Iranian state media cited by Iran International English.

The message read: “The US president is a man of action. Wait and see.”

The origin of the texts remains unclear. Iranian authorities have not publicly identified who sent them.

Rising US-Iran Tensions

The reported messages come at a time of growing tensions between Iran and US President Donald Trump.

Recent reports from Reuters and The Wall Street Journal have suggested that Washington is considering various military options, including what was described as a possible limited strike. These reports say the options could range from targeted actions to broader operations, depending on developments.

No official confirmation of a specific military decision has been announced.

Diplomatic Talks Still Planned

Despite the heightened rhetoric, a new round of talks between the US and Iran is scheduled to take place in Geneva later this week.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told CBS that there remains a “good chance” for a diplomatic solution. He also said Iran would not yield to military pressure.

Earlier, President Trump had warned that “bad things will happen” if a “meaningful deal” is not reached within days, according to media reports.

Military Build-Up in Region

The United States has increased its military presence in parts of the Middle East in recent weeks. Analysts say the move is intended to signal preparedness amid rising tensions.

Former US Central Command deputy commander Bob Harward told The Jerusalem Post that the US has significant assets in the region. However, such assessments reflect expert opinion and not official announcements of action.

Protests Reported in Iran

At the same time, reports from NBC News indicated that anti-regime protests resurfaced over the weekend at several universities in Tehran and one in Mashhad. Demonstrations reportedly continued on Monday.

Iranian authorities have not issued a detailed public statement on the scale of the protests.

US Advises Diplomats to Leave Lebanon

In a related development, the US State Department has asked nonessential diplomats and their families to leave Lebanon, according to the Associated Press.

A US official, speaking anonymously, said the decision was made after reviewing the regional security situation. The embassy in Beirut remains operational with essential staff, and the move has been described as temporary.

Uncertainty and Concern

The anonymous messages circulating in Iran, combined with military repositioning and renewed protests, have heightened uncertainty in the region.

However, diplomatic channels remain open, and talks are still scheduled. Whether tensions escalate or ease in the coming days may depend on the outcome of those negotiations.

For now, both governments appear to be signalling strength publicly, while keeping diplomatic efforts formally alive.
