Kapil Dev Praises Bumrah, Samson Before T20 Final

Former India captain Kapil Dev has praised the recent performances of Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson after India’s narrow victories in the knockout stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

India secured important wins in consecutive matches, first defeating West Indies national cricket team in the Super 8 stage and then overcoming England national cricket team in the semifinal. The performances of Samson and Bumrah played a major role in both results.

Samson and Bumrah Deliver Match-Winning Performances

In the match against West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Samson scored 97 runs, while Bumrah picked up 2 wickets for 36 runs, helping India secure a five-wicket win.

A few days later, India faced England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Samson again contributed with the bat, scoring 89 runs, while Bumrah delivered another key spell.

These performances helped India reach the final of the tournament.

Kapil Dev Calls Bumrah the Best Bowler

Speaking during an event linked to The 72 League, Kapil Dev described Bumrah as one of the top bowlers in the world.

He highlighted the fast bowler’s ability to perform under pressure and said such consistent performances earn respect from fans and teammates.

Kapil also praised Samson’s batting in recent matches, describing him as a talented cricketer who has contributed significantly to India’s progress in the tournament.

Support for Abhishek Sharma

Kapil Dev also spoke about Abhishek Sharma, who has struggled for consistency in the tournament except for a half-century against Zimbabwe national cricket team.

The former captain said that even experienced players can go through difficult phases and encouraged Sharma to remain confident.

According to Kapil, players must believe in their abilities and continue working hard, especially with the tournament final still ahead.

India Set to Face New Zealand in Final

India will now face New Zealand national cricket team in the T20 World Cup final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

If India wins the title, captain Suryakumar Yadav could join the list of Indian captains who have won World Cups, alongside Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.

Memories of India’s Historic 1983 Triumph

Kapil Dev, who led India to its first World Cup victory in 1983 Cricket World Cup, also reflected on the emotions of winning a major tournament.

He noted that winning a World Cup remains the ultimate dream for any cricketer and said the moment of lifting the trophy after a long journey is unforgettable.

With the final approaching, India now stands just one win away from another major international title.
