Prince Andrew Arrested Amid Epstein Probe

UK police arrest Prince Andrew on suspicion of misconduct in public office as scrutiny over his links to Jeffrey Epstein intensifies.

Prince Andrew Arrested Amid Epstein Probe

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, was arrested by UK police on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to reports.

British media said several unmarked police vehicles arrived at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, where officers in plain clothes carried out the arrest.

The development comes days after Buckingham Palace stated that the royal family would cooperate with any investigation into Andrew’s links with convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Why is Andrew under scrutiny?

Prince Andrew has faced public criticism for years over his association with Epstein. He stepped back from royal duties in 2019 and later lost his honorary military titles and royal patronages.

Recently released documents by the United States Department of Justice reportedly included emails and exchanges between Andrew and Epstein. According to international media reports, investigators are examining whether confidential government briefings were shared during Andrew’s time as a UK trade envoy.

Police have not publicly detailed the exact grounds of the misconduct allegation.

Allegations linked to Epstein

Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting a minor for prostitution. He later faced additional federal charges related to sex trafficking before his death in 2019.

Prince Andrew has previously denied wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. He settled a civil lawsuit in 2022 filed by Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual assault. Andrew denied the allegations but agreed to a financial settlement without admitting liability.

Reports also suggest that Andrew and Epstein remained in contact after Epstein’s release from prison in 2009. Media investigations have cited emails and meetings that continued into the following years.

Royal family response

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace earlier said that the royal household would cooperate fully with police if required. King Charles is not believed to have any involvement in the matter.

The arrest marks a significant moment for the British monarchy, which has struggled to distance itself from the controversy surrounding Epstein’s global network.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether formal charges will be filed. Investigations are ongoing.
