Actor Yami Gautam has issued a clarification after social media users noticed that she had liked a reel that appeared to criticise fellow actor Kriti Sanon. The actor said the interaction was unintentional and occurred accidentally.

The reel gained attention online because it compared Kriti Sanon’s award win with comments from Yami Gautam in a past interview.

What the Viral Reel Showed

The video reportedly featured two clips. One clip showed Kriti Sanon receiving the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) award at the Zee Cine Awards 2026 for her performance in Tere Ishk Mein.

Another part of the reel included a snippet from an interview where Yami Gautam spoke about not seeking validation from awards.

In the caption, the reel’s creators mentioned that some fans believed Yami Gautam deserved the award for her role in Haq, while others supported Kriti Sanon’s win.

Yami Gautam Responds to Online Speculation

After the reel circulated online, Yami Gautam addressed the issue through a statement on Instagram Stories.

She explained that public figures are frequently tagged in multiple posts on social media, and the interaction may have happened unintentionally.

“It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor,” she wrote. “This appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. If anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”

The actor also said she has always focused on her work and has not engaged in publicity strategies targeting others.

Statement on Social Media and PR

In the same message, Yami Gautam stated that she does not rely on a PR team and does not use “cheap PR tactics.” She added that discussions around such social media actions can sometimes turn into unnecessary gossip.

Her statement aimed to clarify that the interaction should not be interpreted as criticism of another actor.

Upcoming Appearance

On the professional front, Yami Gautam is expected to appear in a cameo in the upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by her husband Aditya Dhar.

The film features Ranveer Singh in the lead role and is scheduled for release soon.
