Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are reportedly purchasing a luxury waterfront mansion on Indian Creek Island near Miami, Florida. If the deal is completed, Zuckerberg could soon become a neighbour of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
According to reports, the property is located on the western side of the exclusive island, where Bezos also owns multiple homes. Indian Creek Island is a private, highly secured community often referred to as one of the most exclusive residential areas in the United States.
The island spans about 300 acres and includes only 41 residential plots. It has roughly 80 residents and operates as an independent municipality with its own local government and private police force. Entry to the island is controlled through a single guarded bridge, adding to its privacy and security.
Home prices on Indian Creek Island reportedly start at around $60 million. Larger waterfront lots on the western side offer direct access to Biscayne Bay and expansive sunset views. These plots are said to measure about 80,000 square feet, compared to smaller lots on the eastern side.
Property records cited in reports list the owner of the newly acquired property under a land trust. It remains unclear whether the transaction has fully closed.
Real estate experts have reportedly estimated the value of Zuckerberg’s property at between $150 million and $200 million. Vacant land parcels on the island have also reportedly sold for over $100 million in recent months, reflecting strong demand among ultra-wealthy buyers.
Jeff Bezos has been actively acquiring properties on Indian Creek Island since announcing his move from Seattle to Florida in 2023. He has purchased multiple homes on the island, including neighbouring lots that he reportedly plans to combine into a larger estate.
Other high-profile residents of Indian Creek Island include investor Carl Icahn and former NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
Zuckerberg’s reported purchase would add to his growing portfolio of luxury homes across the United States. However, he continues to maintain strong ties to California. Recently, Meta invested $50 million in a downtown redevelopment and AI-focused initiative in Sacramento.
The move comes at a time when some high-net-worth individuals have shown interest in relocating to Florida. Factors such as tax policies and real estate opportunities have influenced property decisions for several billionaires in recent years.
There has been discussion around a proposed ballot initiative in California that would introduce a one-time tax on individuals with net worth above $1 billion, retroactive to January 1, 2026. However, Zuckerberg has not publicly linked his property purchase to any tax considerations.
The potential addition of Zuckerberg to Indian Creek Island highlights the continued appeal of Florida’s luxury waterfront real estate market, particularly among technology leaders.
Neither Meta nor Zuckerberg has publicly commented on the reported purchase.
